Justice For The Rest Of Us

A middle-aged social scientist who started blogging to support social justice and spread the gospel of non-violence. Though it may cost me followers, I will criticize the left when we make mistakes, including resorting to violence when it isn't necessary. Cesar Chavez, who organized disenfranchised migrant workers and Martin Luther King, who not only fought for civil rights but for economic justice, exemplify the principles I espouse here. But make no mistake about it: I am a proud member of the left.

On a personal note, I love Siamese cats, and I'm addicted to baseball. As a public service, I post one cute animal picture everyday. Don't be surprised to see something about music from the 60s every once in a while.

heycaity: Welp. Looks like I’m going to jail for 10 days! Stemming from my arrest in Mobile, Alabama in November. I was arrested with 18 other people for occupying a public park in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement. We were told we had 5 minutes to leave the park or we would risk arrest. After maybe a minute or two of trying to reason with the cops, I saw another officer put cuffs on my boyfriend and another comrade. It was on. Before I knew what was happening, about 30 us were linking arms and some were tying belts around each others arms. But you know, cops are cops and among all the chanting and filming and chaos, they slapped cuffs on me. I went limp and made them carry my ass out of that park.Well, almost 8 months later, here we are and I’m the only seeing anymore jail time for it. Fucking probation.
